Background

Christopher was called to the Bar in 2018 with a very competent grade from the Bar Professional Training Course which he completed at the BPP in London. During his legal studies, he conducted work placements at criminal chambers in Manchester and Birmingham. As a mature student he studied law whilst retaining full time employment living in the Middle East. He comes to the bar with a wealth of life experience; having completed a career spanning 28 years in the military. During pupillage, Christopher observed and assisted in a wide variety of criminal, family and civil matters.

Civil


Christopher has attained a broad exposure to civil matters during pupillage, he has assisted and observed in cases involving; Road Traffic Accidents, Stage 3 Hearings, Infant Settlement Approval, Personal Injury Liability and Advice on Quantum.  Christopher also assisted Counsel during a case by conducted Legal Research during a Harassment at Work case and particularly enjoys the area of Employment Law.

Crime


Christopher has an eye for detail with a determined approach. During pupillage he assisted and observed both defence and prosecution Counsel in a wide range of criminal matters including Murder, Multi-Handed Historic Child Abuse, Offences Against the Person, Firearms, Drugs, Theft and Fraud, Sexual Offences and Motoring Offences.  He observed a rare jury tampering case and wrote a paper on the judicial approach taken in these proceedings (link here).  Given his previous military service, Christopher observed and assisted Counsel defending a client during a Military Court Martial, an area he is keen to develop.

Family


Christopher brings a wealth of life experience and is described as personable with a calming influence. He has observed and assisted in various family matters including; Private Law involving children in FHDRAs, DRAs, Fact Finding and Final Hearings.  Public Law involving children representing Local Authorities, Parents and their Children via their Guardian. In Domestic Abuse cases, Christopher has observed & assisted both non-molestation and occupation orders, including cases of alleged serious emotional, physical and sexual abuse. Christopher has also gained experience in Matrimonial Finance cases and is happy to assist in this area.
