Olivia-May Appleby and Joshua Purser, Criminal Barristers at Cornwall Street Barristers, are preparing to take on the Brighton Marathon this Sunday 12th September to raise money for the London Legal Support Trust.

The London Legal Support Trust supports law centres and legal advice agencies in London and the South East. These agencies help the most vulnerable people to combat injustice.

Two-thirds of the UK population don’t know how to get legal advice and 14 million people who live in poverty can’t afford to pay for it. For the poorest and the most vulnerable people in our community, access to justice is out of reach. Legal help at a time of crisis makes a huge difference to people’s lives, reducing debt, poverty and homelessness.

Olivia-May Appleby commented: “I’m really looking forward to the challenge on Sunday and as someone who is not naturally athletic, I have enjoyed pushing myself during training over the last few months. The support means so much, but even more so to the people that this sponsorship will help. I have already reached my target of £500 but would love to raise as much as I can to go towards helping people protect their rights, fight discrimination and challenge exploitation which I think you will agree, is a very worthy cause.”

Joshua Purser added: “Olivia and I are really passionate about supporting the London Legal Support Trust and all the good work they do, and this is not the first time we have taken on a challenge to support them. The Brighton Marathon will be our hardest challenge to date, but both Olivia and I are really looking forward to Sunday and we are sure the atmosphere on the day will carry us through.”
