Megan Fletcher-Smith successfully defended a man in his sixties, alleged to have sexually assaulted and, later, raped a woman.

The Prosecution contended that the Defendant had taken advantage of a power imbalance between himself and the Complainant, and had threatened her and bought her gifts to prevent her reporting his behaviour.

The Defendant argued that the alleged sexual assault was entirely fabricated, and that the woman had consented.

Megan was able to identify and display discrepancies and inconsistencies in the evidence, as well as significant failings in the police investigation. The jury returned unanimous not guilty verdicts on both counts.
