Jonathan Storey (instructed by the National Education Union) has this week secured the acquittal of a teacher from the North West of England who, along with a colleague, was charged with serious safeguarding failures.
Both teachers faced allegations that they failed to properly implement a safeguarding plan relating to a colleague about whom historic allegations of sexual abuse had been made. Jonathan’s client was also charged with dishonesty relating to his communications about the safeguarding plan with the local authorities.
After a four day hearing, involving numerous legal issues and cross-examination of a safeguarding expert, both Jonathan’s client and the other teacher were acquitted of unacceptable professional conduct.
