Cornwall Street professional discipline specialist Jonathan Storey (instructed by Helene Brunt of the National Education Union) has this week secured the acquittal of a former headteacher from Yorkshire after a misconduct hearing convened by the Teaching Regulation Agency.
Jonathan’s client, who faced 50 separate allegations of serious misconduct including safeguarding failings, management failings, financial wrongdoing, unprofessional behaviour towards colleagues, failures to protect the wellbeing of colleagues, favouritism, nepotism, health and safety breaches, failures to deliver adequate provision, and inappropriate conduct on social media, denied them all. After a 15 day hearing featuring the live evidence of 18 witnesses and a hearing bundle running to 3500 pages the professional conduct panel concluded that Jonathan’s client was not guilty of misconduct.
The Teaching Regulation Agency only publishes the outcomes of hearings in which findings are made of misconduct. So far this year Jonathan has secured the acquittal of eight teachers charged with a wide range of misconduct, from dishonesty and safeguarding failings to historic sexual abuse.
