A teacher from Yorkshire (represented by Cornwall Street’s Jonathan Storey, instructed by Helene Brunt of the National Education Union) has today been acquitted of two separate episodes of sexual misconduct in two different environments following a hearing convened by the Teaching Regulation Agency.
Jonathan’s client, an experienced teacher of English and drama, was charged with historic sexual abuse against a member of his church choir and youth group, and with more recent sexual misconduct towards numerous female pupils in an independent school. All of the complainants attended to give oral evidence and were cross-examined sensitively but rigorously by Jonathan, whose focus on trauma-informed practice and skills in working with vulnerable and child witnesses, combined with compassionate client care and eye for detail, make him a “go-to” barrister for the most sensitive cases.
After an 11 day hearing the professional conduct panel hearing the case acquitted Jonathan’s client of the wrongdoing alleged.
