After a professional conduct panel hearing convened by the Teaching Regulation Agency (which regulates teachers in England) Jonathan Storey – instructed by Avril Bailey of the National Education Union – has secured the career of his client, a primary school teacher from the West Midlands, who had admitted cheating in SATs.

Although she faced the prospect of being prohibited from teaching, the panel that heard her case agreed with Jonathan that the public interest was satisfied by its findings alone.

Jonathan, who has been a member of Cornwall Street since pupillage, is a specialist practitioner in the field of professional regulation and sits as a Legally Qualified Chair and Legal Assessor for the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service, as Chair of the Fitness to Practise Committee of both the Nursing and Midwifery Council and Social Care Wales, and as a Legally Qualified Adviser to police misconduct tribunals. He is best known for his work defending and advising teachers, school leaders and other professionals facing disciplinary proceedings at all stages from investigation to appeal. He is ranked by Chambers and Partners UK Bar 2025 in Band 1 for professional discipline in the Regions; and by the Legal 500 UK Bar 2025 as a Leading Junior for professional disciplinary law in the Midlands.
