After the government’s recent announcement of a four-week national lockdown starting on Thursday 5 November 2020, Cornwall Street Barristers want to reassure our clients that our infrastructure enables us to continue to work effectively.
During the summer, staff were issued with the technology required to enable them to work from home efficiently. This included upgraded telephone systems to multimedia handsets that allow our staff to work remotely but as if they were in the office. All our systems are also securely cloud based ensuring GDPR and data protection compliance.
Although diverts for DX and Royal Mail deliveries are in place and have been for some time, we are encouraging our clients to work electronically through emailing papers to us instead of sending them in the post. However, if papers are sent in the post then they will still be delivered to a member of staff via the redirection.
The clerking team email addresses are as followed:
– For our civil team (including regulatory); civil@cornwallstreet.co.uk
– For our criminal team; crime@cornwallstreet.co.uk
– For our family team; family@cornwallstreet.co.uk
A very limited number of staff will still attend our Covid-19 secure offices periodically throughout the lockdown and our remote connection suites will remain fully operational. Our remote connection suites can be used in the event Counsel need to attend a remote hearing with their client being present or if they need to have a conference.
All our departments will remain open during the second lockdown and all our systems and processes have been rigorously tested to ensure the service we provide to our clients remains at the highest level.
We can’t thank you enough for the fantastic, continued support you have given to Chambers over what has been a tremendously difficult year for us all. I am extremely pleased we have been able to weather the storm brilliantly and will continue to do so to ensure we provide the best service to our clients.
James Farmer
