On Monday 15 July 2019 Cornwall Street was delighted to host the second annual Teacher Regulation Update and Workshop in partnership with The Reflective Practice.
Solicitors and legal staff from four major teaching unions, and a number of others, attended for a series of seminars on sexual misconduct with pupils (led by The Reflective Practice’s Barrister Director, Andrew Faux, an Associate Member of Cornwall Street), the law and tactics of evidence (led by Cornwall Street’s Jonathan Storey), and procedural issues (led by The Reflective Practice’s Solicitor Director, Colin Henderson).
Cornwall Street Barristers has considerable expertise and strength in professional regulation, including the regulation of teachers, assessments, qualifications, schools and safeguarding. Jonathan Storey acts regularly for the defence in misconduct proceedings brought by the Teaching Regulation Agency (and other professional regulators including the General Medical Council and Nursing and Midwifery Council) and is also frequently instructed by Ofqual and by central and local government on regulatory issues. Several other members of chambers’ Regulatory Group have also acted in cases brought by the Teaching Regulation Agency and other professional regulators.
