Cornwall Street Barristers’ Jonathan Storey has helped to preserve the career of a Headteacher from the North East of England who faced being struck off for serious alleged safeguarding failings.
After a five day hearing Jonathan’s client, who faced allegations by the Teaching Regulation Agency that she had failed properly to record and respond to two serious safeguarding disclosures, was acquitted of unacceptable professional conduct. The panel hearing her case was satisfied that she had overlooked a single safeguarding concern, but accepted Jonathan’s submission on her behalf that her working conditions and health at the time were such as to render her oversight insufficiently culpable and serious to be characterised as serious misconduct.
