Jonathan Storey (instructed by Colin Henderson of The Reflective Practice) has this week secured the acquittal of a primary school headteacher from the South East of England who was charged by the Teaching Regulation Agency with a range of serious misconduct including safeguarding failings, failing to follow admissions procedures and related dishonesty.

After a six day hearing involving live evidence from eight witnesses, the professional conduct panel hearing the case determined that, while there had been “lapses from best practice in respect of observing proper boundaries and safeguarding”, those lapses were not dishonest and were not serious enough to amount to unacceptable professional conduct or conduct that may bring the teaching profession into disrepute.

Jonathan is a specialist practitioner in the field of professional discipline, and is ranked as a Leading Junior (Band 1) in the Midlands in the Legal 500 UK Bar 2027, which quoted one referee as saying: “Jonathan is an expert in his field. He has comprehensive knowledge and experience in regulatory matters (in particular, the Teacher Regulation Agency), which is evident in all dealings with him. While he is an expert, he is also approachable, amenable, and provides a human touch to the proceedings, which is appreciated by every single one of my clients who have trusted him explicitly with their case.”

We welcome Susan, Georgina, Elizabeth and Kavita to Chambers and congratulate them on their tenancies.
