Cornwall Street’s Jonathan Storey (instructed by Katharine Millard of the National Association of Headteachers) has secured the acquittal of a headteacher from the South East of England charged with multiple serious safeguarding failings.

The case, which has heard by a professional conduct panel convened by the Teaching Regulation Agency (which regulates teachers in England), related to a number of allegedly serious failings in record keeping, recording and decision making in Jonathan’s client’s role as Designated Safeguarding Lead of a primary school. At the conclusion of the case, however, the panel agreed with Jonathan’s submissions that the evidence did not support the matters alleged and that the regulator’s concerns were misconceived. Jonathan’s client was therefore found not guilty of serious misconduct and is free to continue her career.
