The high-profile burglary case, involving footballer Ashley Cole and his girlfriend Sharon Canu, is continuing at Nottingham Crown Court, where Kurtis Dilks denies being part of a gang who allegedly smashed their way into Mr Cole and Miss Canu’s home with a sledgehammer.

The Court heard harrowing evidence this week, including the 999 call made by Miss Canu and details given from Mr Cole about how the defendants allegedly were going to torture the player by cutting off his fingers with electrician’s pliers when the police arrived.

Nine other men are also on trial for their alleged part in the series of burglaries – including the theft of a £3.5 million tiara.

The trial continues.
