Cornwall Street Barristers congratulates Jonathan Storey on his appointment this month as a Legally Qualified Chair and Legal Assessor for the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS).  Jonathan’s appointment, through a nationwide open competition, means that he will soon be chairing hearings of the Medical Practitioners Tribunal, which has the statutory power to make decisions about doctors’ fitness to practise.

Celebrating the news, Head of Chambers Oliver Woolhouse said: “We are all absolutely delighted for Jonathan. He continues to forge an enormously successful path in the field of professional regulation and has developed an impressive reputation. It comes as no surprise that his skills and ability have been recognised by his appointment to the Medical Practitioners’ Tribunal. It is a credit to Jonathan, and he is a credit to Cornwall Street Barristers.”

Jonathan, who has been a member of Cornwall Street since pupillage, is a specialist practitioner in the field of professional regulation.  In addition to his role as Legally Qualified Chair and Legal Assessor for the MPTS, Jonathan sits as Chair of the Fitness to Practise Committee of both the Nursing and Midwifery Council and Social Care Wales.  He is however best known for his work defending and advising teachers, school leaders and other professionals facing disciplinary proceedings at all stages from investigation to appeal.  He is ranked by Chambers and Partners UK Bar 2022 in Band 2 for Professional Discipline in the Regions; and by the Legal 500 UK Bar 2022 as a “Rising Star”.
