Cornwall Street’s Jonathan Storey (instructed by the National Education Union) has this week secured the complete acquittal of a teacher charged with historic serious sexual abuse allegations. The hearing, convened by the Teaching Regulation Agency, was discontinued by its professional conduct panel after just three days, following Jonathan’s cross-examination of the complainant and one other witness, and subsequent submissions of no case to answer.

Jonathan is a specialist practitioner in the field of professional discipline, and is highly regarded and frequently instructed by the major teaching unions to represent their members in the most serious and sensitive of cases. He frequently acts for vulnerable clients and is adept at cross-examining complainants in relation to serious sexual misconduct both effectively and empathetically. In addition to his defence practice in support of teachers and other professionals, he also sits as Legally Qualified Chair of the Medical Practitioners Tribunal and as chair of the fitness to practise committees of both the Nursing and Midwifery Council and Social Care Wales.
