In an unusual case involving the overlapping jurisdictions of the Ministry of Defence Police and the Royal Navy Police, an engineering officer was accused of offences of fraud and the creation of false service documents surrounding his academic qualifications and his right to serve in the Royal Navy. The case involved issues of National Security and Royal Navy policy whilst the officer faced the loss of his career, his good name and substantial sums of money, as well as his right to remain in the UK. In concurrent proceedings in the Employment Tribunal issue of discrimination were being litigated.
