After a 12-day trial before the resident Judge at Leicester Crown Court, Mike Brady KC, leading Kellie Enever, secured a murder conviction.

The defendant had admitted to assaulting the deceased but denied an intention to cause really serious harm, despite multiple blows to the deceased’s face/head caused by punching and stamping. The defendant asserted he “lost control”. But this was rejected by the jury.

In addition, the defendant had accepted assaulting his ex-partner, who was also present during the incident. He pleaded guilty to a.18 GBH on the first day of trial. The defendant was subsequently sentenced to life with a minimum term of 18.5 years.

Mike and Kellie were instructed by East Midlands CPS, the lawyer: Emma Hodgson, and assisted by Sona Savadia.
