After a five day trial at Birmingham Crown Court, Julian Lynch secured convictions on multiple counts of rape, false imprisonment and breach of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. The Defendant Wayne Hartley denied detaining and repeatedly raping his partner despite having a previous conviction for rape in similar circumstances, but was convicted after trial.

On 18th March the Defendant was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 12 years for the rapes, plus a shorter consecutive sentence for the breach of the Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
