Mark Karpinski, instructed by Glenn Cook of Waldrons Solicitors, successfully represented a man charged with rape and assault by penetration.
The man had met the female complainant on Facebook dating and had a short relationship with her. Two months after the relationship ended. the complainant contacted police alleging the man had inserted his fingers into her vagina without her consent in the beer garden of a pub, and later anally raped her back at his apartment. The man denied the incident at the pub ever took place and stated that all sex at his apartment was vaginal and consensual.
Following a 4-day trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court the man was acquitted on both counts with the jury returning unanimous verdicts in just over an hour.
