Tenancy
Join the team at Cornwall Street Barristers
Criminal Team Opportunities
Our Crime Team is looking for junior tenants (under 5 years’ call) with high potential, whatever their background to join our team based in Birmingham.
Due to current circumstances, there are opportunities for ambitious criminal barristers to take on work at a greatly accelerated rate. Our pupils are taking on increasing amounts of Crown Court work with the support of their supervisors and tenants of just a few years’ call are successfully appearing in the Court of Appeal and being led in serious cases.
We offer a highly competitive, all-inclusive rent structure with no buy-ins or similar penalties. We offer probationary tenancies for more junior recruits (all of whom in recent years have gone on to become full members) as well as accelerated full membership for more established practitioners.
All applications by way of a CV and covering letter should be sent to our Senior Practice Manager, Matt Fleming at m.fleming@cornwallstreet.co.uk.
Civil Team Opportunities
Our Civil Team is expanding to meet an increasing caseload and we would welcome prospective applicants to contact our Senior Practice Manager, Matt Fleming at m.fleming@cornwallstreet.co.uk for an initial discussion and, if beneficial, a meeting with the Head of the Civil Team, Michael Trevelyan.
The Team covers the full spectrum of civil work including high value property disputes, personal injury claims and contractual matters in both consumer and business contexts. The majority of the Team’s work is in the County Court and High Court but there are of course opportunities to expand your practice into the senior appellate Courts where appropriate. The Team includes two Kings’ Counsel and one Senior Counsel as well as junior members covering a full range of experience levels. We are also fortunate to have members that are also part of the local judiciary.
In addition to general common law work, some members of the Team also appear in the Immigration Tribunal at both the First-tier and Upper Tribunal levels. This is an area which Chambers is particular keen to expand with junior practitioners as there is a surplus of instructions which the right candidate would be able to accept with a view to immediately growing that area of their practice. However, we welcome applications from all interested practitioners of all seniority who are looking to develop their civil practice.
