Juliet Hearne

Background

Juliet is an experienced member of the family team practising in a number of areas of family law for a number of years.  Juliet is clear headed, robust when needed and more than “just a safe pair of hands”.  In  matters both complex and more straightforward, Juliet approaches any  case with a combination of skill, rigour and compassion. Juliet does not shy away from the challenges of complex or contentious matters taking a sensible and calm approach and is able to tackle difficult cases head on.  Juliet accepts instructions  via direct access if suitable.

Education

Having obtained a degree in Classics, Juliet qualified in Law and was called to the Bar in 1989. After pupillage with Miss. Estella Hindley, now HHJ Hindley, Juliet transferred to practice as a solicitor in Shropshire. In 1995 she established her own legal practice in North Shropshire specialising in family and criminal law. Juliet was a Law Society Family Panel member and a Duty Solicitor.

Public Law 

Juliet has extensive experience acting for  local authorities, parents, grandparents or guardians in care proceedings.  Juliet regularly represents young and/or vulnerable parents and clients with learning difficulties.  Juliet carefully navigates the lay client through care proceedings giving clear advice to achieve the best outcome possible.   

Private Law

Juliet regularly acts for parents, grandparents and guardians in private law matters.  Juliet has extensive experience of complex private law proceedings including cases involving allegations of  parental alienation, domestic abuse/ coercive control matters and international relocation.  Juliet provides clear advice and effective representation to achieve a realistic and child focussed outcome for families.  Juliet represents parents in fact finding hearings. 

Financial Remedy

Juliet has experience of all aspects of financial remedy applications involving pensions, company and business assets and spousal maintenance  cases.   

She accepts both privately and publicly funded instructions and is committed to the future of public funding in family matters. Juliet appears in the Family Courts and High Court on a regular basis.

  • Representing Local Authority in complex case involving inter sibling harm. 
  • Representing  learning a learning disabled parent in case involving chronic neglect. 
  • Representing an underage parent who herself was subject of care proceedings.

Private Law

  • Acting for mother in respect of allegations of alienation and successfully challenging psychological assessment of the same.
  • Acting for mother in fact finding involving allegations of coercive control. Findings made.
  • Acting for father in Hague Convention matter in the High Court following mother and children arriving in the UK.  Contact including contact abroad established
