Christopher Pembridge, instructed by Gammon, Piercy and Gaiger Solicitors, successfully persuaded the Court of Appeal to reduce a substantial sentence.

Following conviction after trial, the Crown Court at Oxford had imposed a 10 year extended determinate sentence on the appellant for an offence of wounding with intent. That was imposed consecutive to a 5 year sentence that the defendant was already serving for a previous offence of the same type.

Christopher successfully argued that the sentencing judge failed to adequately reflect the principle of totality, and that the final sentence of (in effect) 15 years, was disproportionate. The Court of Appeal agreed with the submissions, and reduced the sentence by 2 years.
