Background

Alban is from Kosovo and completed his Bar Professional Training Course at BPP Law School, London and was Called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of Inner Temple in 2013. From 2013 to 2016 Alban worked in a bank, pursued general legal experience and completed his Masters (LL.M.) in Professional Legal Practice.

Alban was previously at common law set of chambers between 2016 and 2020 and since then, he resumed his practice as a sole practitioner barrister, under his own name. Alban manages his regulatory and professional discipline practice, while clerks in chambers handle his criminal practice as a grade 3 CPS prosecutor. Alban has a real passion for sport and he works with the Football Association and Kent Cricket League where he sits as a Chair panel member on multiple bodies hearing various cases of misconduct by players, match officials and clubs. Alban also has experience presenting cases before fitness to practice panels for the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Alban completed the South Eastern Circuit Advanced International Advocacy Course (Keble) in 2024 and was also selected for the South Eastern Circuit Florida Criminal Law Advocacy Course (2025), which was held at the University of Florida, Gainesville.

Notable Cases

R v L

Prosecuting in an attempted s.18 wounding with intent where the defendant claimed he had not formed intention (stabbing) due to intake of drink and drugs.

R v M

Prosecuting a case involving 3 counts of assault emergency worker where there were grounds that the defendant was mentally unfit to plead. Trial concluded to mental health disposal.

R v D

Defending client in an ABH s.47 and using an offensive weapon.

R v J

Defending client indicted for a firearm importation including ammunition.

R v E and E and R

Prosecuted multi-handed case involving animal rights protesters.

Regulatory Law

The Football Association and Kent Cricket League

Alban volunteered in 2018 to sit on regional disciplinary panels as a wing member and then qualified to sit as Chair. He was then appointed to the National Serious Case Panel in 2019 and takes instructions as Chair to adjudicate on personal and non-personal hearings. Alban also sits as Chair on the General Appeal Panel which considers challenges to decisions of other Disciplinary Commissions in accordance with routes of appeal set out in The FA Handbook. Cases vary from general misconduct to serious matters of assault, discrimination and threatening behaviour. Alban is also an Independent Disciplinary Adjudicator for the Kent Cricket League where similar to the FA, he adjudicates on instances of misconduct by players and cricket clubs.

Nursing and Midwifery Council

Alban has experience presenting cases before disciplinary committees for the NMC. This has included various stages of proceedings and cases involving serious allegations of misconduct, dishonesty and sexual offences. Instructions have ranged from making preliminary applications, reviewing previous decisions to conducting substantive hearings. Substantive hearings have often lasted multiple days requiring a focus on safeguarding the public and addressing whether individuals are fit to practice in their line of work.
