Shehraz
Hussain

Barrister | Called 2022

Georgia Griffiths

Practice Summary

Shehraz both prosecutes and defends in the full spectrum of Crown Court cases, including serious violence, fraud, drug and gang-related crime, conspiracies, and sexual offending.

After being called to the Bar, Shehraz spent time as an in-house advocate at the Crown Prosecution Service. That prior experience is especially useful when defending as he is able to call on this knowledge when advising clients to ensure that a holistic, realistic and balanced viewpoint is given.

His pre-Bar background as an investigator for bodies such as the Solicitors Regulation Authority and Financial Conduct Authority furnished him with an in-depth understanding of regulatory and professional discipline, particularly the approaches taken by regulators when investigating allegations of misconduct. He is therefore well placed to represent and advise both regulators and those facing regulatory action.

Shehraz has been commended for his written advocacy skills, with members of the judiciary complimenting his drafting as being “of the highest calibre”.
