Matthew Jahanfar
Barrister | Called 2024
Practice Summary
During pupillage, Matthew began developing a family and civil practice. As part of his family work, he received instructions on various private children matters and applications under the Family Law Act 1996. This included FHDRAs, DRAs, ex-parte, return and Final Hearings.
Matthew’s civil practice also allowed him to familiarise himself with a variety of areas, including credit hire, RTAs and Stage 3 hearings. This built on previous experience he gained as a County Court Advocate with LPC Law, where he acted in mortgage possession, landlord & tenant, return of goods and insolvency proceedings.
Prior to pupillage, Matthew won the Sir Louis Gluckstein Advocacy Prize, which is awarded to the best junior advocate at Lincoln’s Inn. He also refined his client-handling skills, by working with vulnerable people as a volunteer at Citizens Advice, Support4Sight, CHESS Homeless and Care4Calais.
