Danae Larham

Background

Danae joined Cornwall Street in 2021 after successful completion of her Bar Professional Training Course at the University of Law in Birmingham where she received a very competent classification. She also completed a Masters in Bar Practice, achieving a distinction.

During her studies, Danae undertook pro bono work in a range of matters from family law to housing. Danae was awarded the Harmsworth Major Scholarship by the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple.

Prior to the BPTC, Danae worked for a solicitors practice as a legal assistant across a range of departments, as well as regularly volunteering at and fundraising for her local homeless shelter.

Danae undertook a common law pupillage under the supervision of Michael Trevelyan providing her with a wealth of experience across practice areas.

Danae’s expertise

Criminal Law

Danae enjoys a busy and varied criminal law practice, regularly prosecuting and defending trials, applications and appeals before the Crown Court. She has also conducted private prosecutions on behalf of charities.

Danae is trained in vulnerable witness handling and has experience of cross examining such witnesses as well as representing the same.

Danae is approachable and sensitive to lay clients whilst being able to provide robust and clear advice as necessary.

Family Law

Danae’s family law practice is rapidly growing in both public and private law matters. With a particular focus on Children Act proceedings, Danae regularly acts for parents and r16.4 guardians in multi-day fact finding hearings and final contested hearings, demonstrating ability beyond her call. She has acted on behalf of parents in cases involving allegations of serious domestic abuse, sexual abuse and parental alienation. Danae has experience representing clients with personality disorders and mental health issues.

In her work with domestic abuse injunctions, Danae is recognised as a robust and knowledgeable advocate who takes a practical approach to cases whilst providing a high standard of client care.

Interests

Outside of work, Danae has an interest in languages, practising her conversational level British Sign Language and beginners level Mandarin. In her spare time, Danae enjoys travelling and is a keen skier as well as watching live sports at Edgbaston and her beloved Leicester Tigers.
