Lucy Cash

Background

Lucy was called to the Bar in 2015 with a ‘very competent’ grade from the Bar Professional Training Course. She completed her Graduate Diploma in Law in 2014, having first achieved a First Class undergraduate degree in English from the University of Birmingham.

Lucy undertook a Family and Criminal pupillage, having joined Cornwall Street Barristers as a pupil in September 2015. She now specialises in all areas of family law.

Family Law

Private Family Law

Lucy has experience dealing with private children’s cases at all levels, from Magistrates’ Court to the High Court. She is regularly instructed to act on behalf of parents and children (through their Rule 16.4 Guardian) and has experience acting for grandparents and step-parents. Lucy is instructed for hearings throughout private law proceedings, including emergency applications, FHDRAs, DRAs, fact finding hearings and final hearings. Lucy has gained a wealth of experience, including in cases involving:

  • Allegations of domestic abuse (including allegations of rape)
  • Allegations of parental alienation
  • Allegations of physical and/or sexual abuse of children
  • Applications to remove from the jurisdiction
  • Applications for Prohibited Steps Order and/or Specific Issue Orders (including change of name, change of school and relocation)

Lucy prides herself on being able to successfully build a rapport with clients from all walks of life. She provides sensible and robust advice and works hard to achieve positive outcomes for her clients.

Family Law Act Proceedings

Lucy regularly acts for Applicants and Respondents in applications for Non-Molestation Orders and Occupation Orders under the Family Law Act 1996.

Public Family Law

Lucy regularly acts for local authorities, parents, grandparents and children in care proceedings. She has experience at all levels of proceedings, from applications for interim care orders, to case management hearings, fact finding hearings and final hearings. Lucy takes a pragmatic and sensible approach to proceedings and is able to offer clear advice in a calm and structured manner. Lucy prides herself on her client care in what can be very emotionally challenging proceedings.
