Jonathan Storey has recently been featured in the Tes Guide to School Trips, offering general advice and comment on the legal issues arising from school trips in a chapter dedicated to post-trip analysis.
The guide, available for £5.99 (https://www.tes.com/store/school-trips17), was published with this week’s issue of the Tes and is essential reading for schools and teachers involved in organising trips and other activities. In the chapter focusing on issues that can arise after a trip has finished, Jonathan recommends that schools take care to understand the nature and objective of any concerns or complaints raised; take them seriously, following the school’s complaints policy in more serious cases; handling them transparently; and avoid the temptation to sweep matters under the carpet, cover one’s tacks, or hide information relating to an incident.
